Chromosome reduction in Eleocharis maculosa (Cyperaceae).
Chromosome numbers in Cyperaceae lower than the typical basic number x = 5 have been described for only three species: Rhynchospora tenuis (n = 2), Fimbristylis umbellaris (n = 3) and Eleocharis subarticulata (n = 3). Eleocharis maculosa is recorded here as the fourth species of Cyperaceae that has a chromosome number lower than 2n = 10, with 2n = 8, 7 and 6. The karyotype differentiation in E....
متن کاملCHROMOSOME STUDIES OF IRANIAN MEMBERS OF TRIBE SOPHOREAE (FAMILY LEGUMINOSAE
The tribe Sophoreae sensu Polhill [9,10] is a large and diverse assemblage comprising the ancient and primitive ancestral stocks of Papilionoideae. The most frequent chromosome basic numbers in this tribe are x = 11 and x = 9 but chromosome numbers range from x = 8-14 are also known. In this study chromosome numbers and karyotype variation of Iranian members of tribe Sophoreae are reported. Ira...
متن کاملNew Hopane Triterpene from Eleocharis sellowiana (Cyperaceae)
The genus Eleocharis R. Br. (Cyperaceae, Cyperoideae, Scirpeae) includes about 200 species, occurring in wet environments like swamps, lakes and rivers margins. Their aerial parts are formed by simple, not ramified stalks that end in a spiciform inflorescence formed by numerous very inconspicuous flowers. Their subterraneous parts are formed by roots and stem (called rhizome or stolon, dependin...
متن کاملCHROMOSOME STUDIES IN ARABIDOPSIS THALIANAl
HE advantages of using Arabidopsis, a small crucifer, for studies of mutation Tand other genetic problems were pointed out by G. P. R ~ D E I (1962). His establishment of five linkage groups ( R~~DEI , private communication) and the occurrence of certain aberrant mutants made a study of Arabidopsis chromosomes desirable. The following is a report on the cytology of normal Arabidopsis thaliana (...
متن کاملChromosome studies in familial leukaemia.
The finding of an inherited chromosome abnormality (Chl) in several members of a family, including two who had developed chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (Gunz, Fitzgerald, and Adams, i962), led to the suggestion that this abnormality predisposed its carriers to the development of the disease, and that inherited cytogenetic abnormalities of this type might determine some instances of familial leuk...
